Hopewell at Thompson

Status (updated 6/4/18) Concept development is underway

On November 8, 2016, citizens throughout Fulton County approved a Transportation Special Purpose Local-Option Sales Tax (TSPLOST). This 0.75% (3/4 cent), five-year referendum is estimated to bring a projected $37 million to the City of Milton to fund transportation projects. Hopewell at Thompson (Project MIL-006) was identified as a Tier 1 project to be funded with the tax.

On January 29, 2018 the City approved a contract with Barge Design Solutions, Inc. for design services including concept development for this intersection.

The concept phase is a combined study with Hopewell at Hamby intersection. The concept phase includes public involvement, development of concept alternatives for intersection improvements at both locations, and a recommended alternative.

Public involvement includes an online survey, stakeholder outreach for adjacent property owners, public input at Beach Bash at Bell, and neighborhood outreach. The Summary of Findings Document provides the environmental screening and public involvement summation for the concept development of both projects.

Concept alternatives presented include:

Alternative 1

Alternative 2

Alternative 3

Considerations for selection of the preferred alternative(s) include impacts to vehicle delays, impacts to existing land parcels, and maintenance and construction costs. A Progress Report Including Discussion of Concept Alternatives presentation was made at the August 14, 2018 City Council work session.
