Hopewell at Bethany Bend/Way

Status (updated 6/12/18) 2013 Concept alternatives are being evaluated as well as new alternatives under TSPLOST funding. Public meeting to present alternatives will be held late summer 2018.

On November 8, 2016, citizens throughout Fulton County approved a Transportation Special Purpose Local-Option Sales Tax (TSPLOST). This 0.75% (3/4 cent), five-year referendum is estimated to bring a projected $37 million to the City of Milton to fund transportation projects. Hopewell at Bethany Bend/Way (Project MIL-001) was identified as a Tier 1 project to be funded with the tax.

On July 24, 2017, the City approved a contract with Pond & Company to provide design services for intersection improvements at Hopewell Road and Bethany Bend/Way/Oaks Point. The concept re-development includes a peer review of alternatives and public outreach.

These intersections were identified in the 2009 Milton Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP) as priority/key intersection improvements.

In 2013, the City began a concept phase as a combined study of Hopewell Road at Bethany Bend, Hopewell Road at Bethany Way, Hopewell Road at Bethany Oaks Point, and Hopewell Road at Redd Road. The concept phase included public involvement and development of concept alternatives for intersection improvements at these locations. Due to the complexity of some of the alternatives for Bethany Bend/Way/Oaks Point, the range of opinions for type of improvement, and other roundabouts under construction in 2013, the project was put on hold. The intersection of Hopewell Road at Redd Road was improved in 2017 as a quick fix to add separate left and right turns on Redd Road as shown on the PROJECT LAYOUT.

The concept alternatives and a summary of the comments received and data collected was presented at the August 12, 2013 Council Work Session.

A Public Information Open House was held on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Milton City Hall Council Chambers. The information provided at the meeting included:
