Northeast Crabapple Connector Road

Status (updated 11/18/19) Traffic Pattern Change will be shifting to 3-way stop control intersection and removing traffic signal at Mayfield Road and Charlotte Drive on 11/19/19.

On November 8, 2016, citizens throughout Fulton County approved a Transportation Special Purpose Local-Option Sales Tax (TSPLOST). This 0.75% (3/4 cent), five-year referendum is estimated to bring a projected $37 million to the City of Milton to fund transportation projects. The Crabapple Northeast Connector Roadway (Project MIL-030) with intersection improvements at Mayfield Road and Charlotte Drive (Project MIL-005) is scheduled to be one of the first projects funded and implemented under the TSPLOST program.

On July 24, 2017 the City approved a contract with Pond & Company to develop a concept including traffic modeling, property survey mapping, improvement scenario and concept plans. The concept plan showing proposed improvements were presented at a Public Information Open House held at City Hall on Thursday, September 28, 2017 from 5-7 pm. Meeting materials are provided below:

On December 18, 2017 the City approved the design contract for Pond & Company to prepare construction documents for the project including preliminary design, right of way plans, and final design including landscaping and lighting. The design is scheduled to be complete late 2018.

Overall Project Layout shows recent improvements at Mayfield Road and Birmingham Highway, Heritage Walk at Birmingham Highway, and sidewalks along Mayfield Road along with planned project improvements.

On February 5, 2019 the City approved a construction contract with CMES, Inc.
