Bethany Bend at Cogburn Road
This intersection was identified in the Milton Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP) as a key intersection improvement. The CTP suggested improvements including left turn lanes and signal phases for east and west bound left turns as well as improving sight distance. Non-traditional improvements such as a roundabout were not recommended for this intersection because of safety concerns associated with the new high school.
This project consists of the addition of eastbound left and right turn lanes, lengthening the southbound left turn lane and adding as southbound right turn lane. The school will be constructing a westbound left turn lane and a northbound right turn lane.
The final plans are complete and right-of-way and easement acquisition is underway. Construction is expected to begin in early 2012.
